PROGRAMS

Busload of Books offers a range of programs and initiatives meant to promote literacy and creative expression in Title I schools—across the country and in our own community.

School Visits and Giveaways

Each school year, Robbi and Matthew visit ten Title I elementary schools across the country—five in-person and five virtual.

Through presentations and brainstorming sessions, we help kids harness creative power, unlock potential, and discover possibility. Every student and teacher gets a free book and “reading buddy” teddy bear courtesy of our friends at Build-A-Bear Foundation.

That Full Moon Feeling

Finding the Wonder and Telling Your Story

Using our picture book Everywhere, Wonder, as a guide, we describe the process of working together to write and illustrate a picture book—emphasizing themes of observation, discovery, storytelling, and creative empowerment.

Presentation for 3rd – 6th Grade

Figurative Language

and the Power of Creative Expression

With our middle grade series The Cookie Chronicles backdrop, we describe our creative process and the wonderful weirdness of language—using proverbs as a framework for sharing empowering ideas and encouraging creative exploration.

Weekly YouTube Show

We are developing a weekly show for elementary school teachers and librarians to use in their classrooms—with the aim of inspiring and activating reading, writing, and drawing.

Each ten-minute episode features creative tips, prompts, demos, and challenges from engaging and relatable creators (named Robbi and Matthew).

*We are currently in development with hopes of a Spring 2026 launch.

Title I educators can sign up HERE to be part of our pilot program.

The Research Study

For the past five years, we’ve partnered with Washington College to conduct the first-ever large-scale study of how author/illustrator visits impact elementary students’ attitudes about literacy.

Analysis of more than 11,000 surveys reveals a notable rise in student interest in reading, writing, and drawing in the wake of our visits.

The Studio Minute

Every day (or so) we post kid-focused reels with studio updates, creative tips, regrettable dancing, and/or conversations with dogs. Follow us to keep up with the latest!

Creativity Club

Once a week, we gather with kids from our local Title I middle school to make stuff, imagine, and laugh.
